This is Alandale, built in 1824 by Rev John Crawford. Birthplace of Major General Samuel Crawford, surgeon at Ft Sumter at start of Civil War and cross branched to infantry. Wounded at Antietam, led charge up Plum Run at Gettysburg after Chamberlain's charge down Little Round Top.Was present for surrender at Appomattox. Highest ranking officer from Franklin County in the Civil War. Identified as nominee for inclusion in the National Registry of Historic Places. Now rescued and a private residence.
