This scene is along Route 18 in Washington Township about 1.5 miles SE of Sycamore.
The land and the barn pictured here were owned in succession from 1870-1970 by Levi Pettit, Z.K.Bonham, The New York State Natural Gas Co. and Consolidated Natural Gas. The current owner is unknown to me.
The house seen here was built in 1947 by NYSNGC as the superintendent's home for Preston Station. Originally constructed on the side of Route 18 closer to the camera, it was moved to its current location sometime in the late 70s or early 80s after surviving the railroad right-of-way war that laid waste to most of the structures in this section of the valley.
The track bed can be seen at the upper edge of the frame. It appears that as of 1984 the rails had yet to be laid.
