This house was built in 1947 by the New York State Natural Gas Corp. as the Superintendent's quarters at Preston Station. It originally stood directly across Route 18. Sometime in the early 80s it was moved across the road and rotated 180 degrees. Today it stands on the site of a century old farmhouse that was burned, probably in the late 70s. My family and I lived in that house from June 1961 to December 1968.
Operations at Preston Station ceased in Dec of '68 but some of the buildings still stand and are now occupied by the Tony Lingis Company.
