This was Curry Home, the county's home for the elderly, the way it looked in 1988 when the county was considering selling it to a private nursing facilities operator.

The central portion was built around 1930 across from the first "poor farm" (off the right side of the photo) which is now owned by the Greene County Historical Society. The two wings were added in 1964. The building is still standing but is not a nursing home. Today Rolling Meadows facility sits on Curry Rd off the left side of the photo.

I remember visiting many people there in the 60s, and I realize the staff was doing their best under trying circumstances, but it was a cramped and cheerless place to live out your days if you had nowhere else to go.
