Raymond Gumm and Joan Haney Gumm farm. Original owners were Philip Bossert/Bossard. There is a granite memorial to Philip Bossard an early settler in 1745 from Alsace Germany. He helped to lay the foundations of civilization on the frontier. He made his home a refuge for his neighbors fleeing from Indian attacks during the French and Indian War. He donated a portion of his land for a school and church. The Christ Church of Hamilton Square was erected on his land. His body lies in it's cemetery. Joan Haney Gumm still lives in this stone house. She is a cousin to my mom Orthea Haney Serfass.
