All that remains of this farm and Texaco station that stood on the east side of PA Rte 191 across from Hope Cemetery, north of Hecktown, is a bit of rubble and the very ends of the macadam entrances.

The farmer who owned this built the Texaco Station/Repair Shop for his son who was more interested in being a mechanic than a farmer. The son was tragically killed right before the commercial building was completed.

Peter, not sure where you got your information but your dead wrong. The farmer who owned this was my great grand father (Howard S.Frey) and he had two sons. Marvin Frey and Kenneth Frey. Kenneth Frey died of cancer, he did die tragically. My grandfather Marvin Frey took over the farm in 1994 upon Howard's Death and my grand father Marvin Farmed it till his death in 2002. In 2006 my grandmother sold it to a developer (Tuskas Homes) who currently has a complete housing development in there now. My grandfather Marvin died in his home on that land and so did his mother Helen Frey who passed away in her home in the 1960s My grandmother died in 2009 shortly after selling the land that's now just over priced mini Mancsions with no purpose cause they are runner by a HOA. That is the backstory of the farm. On 360 Nazareth pike

Christine, is it possible you are both correct? According to his obituary, Kenneth H. Frey was "a farmer and a gas station attendant in a Hecktown service station." He was just 29 when he died in 1972. So your great-grandfather Howard would be the farmer Pete mentioned, who built the service station for his son Kenneth, but Kenneth died young. Pete's memory is simply off by a few years, as the photo dates to 1965, which is 7 years before Kenneth died.

eMouse422, No, he is wrong. Kenneth wasn't interested in farming or working on cars. In fact, it was my grandfather Marvin Frey who worked the Farm with his father Howard, and also worked at the gas station/service center, up till the 90s when it was closed. The garage was never built for Kenneth himself. It was completely my great grand fathers idea and his sons went in with it. Kenneth died of Lymphoma in 1972, a few years after his mother died of a heart attack. Back than, there was no treatment like they have now for lymphoma so it was a death sentence back than. Mhy grandfather farmed that place for 40 years, after his father and brother both pass and he himself passed on that patch, in 2002. So he might have got secondary information, by someone who thought they knew the truth, but i was very close to my grandfather, and knew my great grand father personally before he died. So i know how that all went down, who did what, said what, with who. Could be secondary information he was givin that was wrong. Please do not take that the wrong way.

emouse422 also, Kenneth wasn't much of a mechanic. My grandfather and his father Howard spend most of their time in that garage. Kenneth did his own thing a lot of the time from what i heard from his wife (WIDOW) who is still alive to this day, her name is Diane. People can write anything they want in a obit, to make people feel nice, but doesn't always mean its fact. Just putting out the truth so nothing mislead. Also dying tragically and or from a disease are two different things....just for the record.
