smith's country inn and restaurant New Ringgold

My aunt and uncle, Dolores and Harvey L. Smith owned and operated this bar and restaurant, beginning in 1952, for over 60 years. It was previously owned by Harvey E. Smith, Harvey’s father, who bought the bar in 1935. The property has always served as a tavern from as far back as 1709, then as a tavern & eating establishment, and a “stagecoach stop” dating back to 1769. The new owner is planning to reopen it as a restaurant. I spent many days at this establishment.
