This farmhouse belonged to my husband's family. His grandparents Theodore and Velma Philips ran the farm. The big white barn on the left as well as most of outbuildings, the trailer and the chicken coop are no longer there however the garage by the road and the out building in the center of the photo are still there. The tree to the left of the back part of the house was actually just cut down last summer due to it dying and causing damage to the back-porch roof. My husband and his cousins used to play “Jump the Crick” in the crick in the lower right of the photo. The family owned the house until about 10 years ago when it was sold to the coal mine. My mother in law rented the farmhouse from the coal mine up until this past December when she moved to North Carolina when the coal mine stopped responding to repair requests and refused to sell the farmhouse back to the family. Sadly, it now sits empty in desperate need of repair. "The Philips" sign still hangs on a black post near the road.
