This home was built by a son of Chief Justice John Marshall. The farm was purchased in the 1950’s by J Willard Marriott as a working Hereford farm he named it Fairfield Farm and Firey Ranch. This was his home on the east coast. He hosted President Eisenhower at the home. The children of Hume School waved to the President as his motorcade drove by on Hume Rd. Today the farm is an event center and the home is used as a hotel.
Always told the manor house was haunted and it was listed in a book about haunted houses of Fauquier County
