I own this house and property. We purchased this home in 2020. We have heard this use to be an old country store. We are looking to find out more about its hostory.

The exterior looked pretty much the same when we bought it. We have completed a lot of renovations on the home and it does look different now.

Hi Allison! It's fascinating to hear that you own this house with such a rich history. We'd be thrilled to help you learn more about its past. Can you provide any details about the old country store, perhaps its name or any significant events associated with it? It's also interesting to know that you've renovated the house since purchasing it. Please share what changes you've made.

We know it was called the tatum store. But that is about all we know. Then it was converted to a residential home - we found a piece of wood during our renovation the said Mcghee on it.

We are basically in the middle of a full gut remodel on the inside so we can run up to code electrical, plumbing and insulate the home. The exterior has had cosmetic updates with new roofing, siding, windows and doors.

There is more fencing on the property, amd all of the other buildings on the property remain except for the carport. We are recording our renovations on instagram

Our neighbor has provided us with some details that there use to be a school house on the property in the early 1900’s. But we have seen no signs or records of that.

We did meet a man in ornage who said his mother would walk to the store, and he has a picture of it with horses tied up out front from a newspaper clipping. We are hoping he can find it and get back to us. We plan to search the county archives soon.
