Old Abilene. Intersection of Abilene Road and County Line Road.
Frame house in upper right was one of the oldest structures in the area. It was owned for several generations by the McGehee family and sold after they all died. The house was being renovated when it burned to the ground.
Hi Ellenanne,
Is the other house still on the property?
The last time I was in Abilene was more that a year ago, and that building is still there at the intersection, but it's been completely renovated, or maybe rebuilt. It does not look the same now. At one time, when I was a child (I'm 70 now) there was a store in the right side of the building but it closed long ago. This is now a residence, and although it was close to the old house, it was not the same property. Now there are several smaller homes on the old McGehee property.
