SW corner of Morgan and Hill road, most there

This is where I grew up and helped my parents with all the farm chores, lots of memories here.

Hi Janet! It's great to hear that you have so many memories from this area. What was your favorite farm chore to help with while you were growing up? What kind of farm did your parents operate on the property?

My dad and mom had a 40 cow dairy, and raised their own heifers for replacements. Ivwoukd throw down silage out of the silo, then feed it to the cows, then we would hand bed the cows in the winter, they would stay in the barn during winter. We would also clean the gutters by hand and bring it out by wheel barrows to the slab out behind the barn. The heifers we would haul water by 5 gallon buckets from the milk house across the yard to the heifer barn. It was hard work. We went to school, and played alot outside in those early years. We did yard work also.

Hi Janet, thank you for sharing your memories of growing up in Whatcom County! It sounds like you had a lot of hard work on the farm. Has anything changed in the area since the 1968 photo was taken? We'd love to learn more about your experiences.
