In the late 1800âs. John Kintzle help forge a path through the Wisconsin wilderness into virgin timberland, scouting for parcels for the Romadka Brothers Trunk Company of Milwaukee. Parcels were selected several miles north of what is now Granton, WI, and a logging community called âRomadkaâ sprung up, along with a railroad on which the logs could be more easily shipped to market. . Kintzle built this house and farm, which is now owned by the Crothers, descendents of the Kintzle family. Marcia Crothers began a greenhouse, which you can see in this photo. This house is either the last or one of the two last houses remaining from the Romadka community. The road in front of the house is Romadka Ave.
Forgot to say, all the buildings in this photo are still there, with the possible exception of the little building half hidden in the trees at far right. Additional buildings have been built in the field to the left of the corn crib.
