My late husband Merlin Gehrke and myself Harriet farmed this farm from 1959 until 1999 when Harriet sold part of it. Merlin passed away on June 10,1995.The original 139 acres is currently being farmed by Zimmerman and I Harriet Gehrke Deiter rent 160 acres out to a local farmer
The house in the picture is being torn down sometime soon. The Zimmermans have built a new house next to the original.. The large trees in the front yard are no longer there. Harriet is retired and lives in Platteville.
Hi Harriet,
What did your husband and you farm on the land? Do you have a memory you would like to share about the property?
We farmed the 239 acres with crops, corn, oats, alfalfa hay, and milked over 80 cows. Merlin passed in 1995 and the 239 acres were sold in 1999.
