I have owned this property since 1996. The barn house and silo still stand, the grain bin is gone and a building, pump house, tool shed and milk house were added prior to my purchase. There is also a run in shed on the right side of the bar. We also resided the house a few years back. Despite the changes, still recognizable. Very cool to see!
This farm once belonged to my great-grandfather Mike Schmit, and then my Great grandpa William Schmit and then my grandpa Ray Schildgen. My dad said he made a mistake at not buying this farm since it would now be a century farm in the family. The Truck and trailer was my dad's it was a 1978 f250. The pine trees in the front right of the photo were planted by my dad. The weeping willows in the back were where there was once a dam and were planted by my great grandpa William, The story is that he planted them by taking small branches off another weeping willow and sticking them in the mud, and they grew from there. I believe they are no longer there. This was an 80 acre farm and the NE gate at the property line was basically across the road of a farm that my grandpa and dad bought jointly from Francis Schildgen. The gate Across the road would have been the Southwest corner of that farm
