Hi WeRemember, I should make a correction here. Been wracking my brains and talking about this with my Mom - There was actually already one bedroom upstairs when we moved there, but it was updated or remodeled somewhat (don't remember details) in about 1966(?) and my Dad had someone help him put some more fiberglass insulation around the "outside" walls of the room so it wouldn't get so cold in the winter. We didn't use it until about 3 years or so after moving in - at which time my brother and I moved up there, and my (older) sisters moved into our old ground floor bedroom. My youngest sister was born in Sept 1968 and if I remember correctly, she slept in a bassinet or baby crib in our parents room - she was only about 8 months old when we moved away. The large dining room area was also more of an all-purpose "family room" or parlour (for us, anyway) and that is the room where my Mom had her sewing machine, where her piano was, and other furniture including a couch, writing desk, and other items. I remember her ironing board in there! We always ate in the kitchen itself. I wouldn't be surprised if the dining room had also served as a bedroom in times past. There were large wooden sliding doors (or panels) that could be opened and shut that separated the living room and the dining room. Although we rarely shut them.

Hi WeRemember, My Mom knew the lady who lived in that house (currently painted blue) back in the mid-1960s and I will ask her if she remembers her name (she is 91). I'm not positive if it is the same woman your great-grandparents knew, but it may have been. In about 1967 or 1968 a young couple named Tim and Marsha McLemore moved into that house. No idea how long they stayed there, as we moved to AZ in 1969.

The B&O Railroad is on the left, and the old Blackland Elevator just out of camera range also to the left. This small house in front is still standing, and looks to be fairly well kept. Looks like a lot of new trees and shrubbery have been planted over the last few years, going by recent Google views. That house looked ANCIENT to me when I lived south of this spot in the 1960s. The other house in the upper portion of the picture burned down sometime in the 1980s or 1990s (I believe) and since then the ground has been reverted to farmland.

This is Wooten's River Service, Jeffersonville, IN, on the Ohio River - the towboat "Miss Ida" is in the front, near the center of the picture.

I believe this is the old Armstrong farm property, north of Jeffersonville in Clark County, Indiana, near the intersection of Charlestown-New Albany Pike and Holmans Lane. There is a new housing subdivision there now that covers much of the property, and it's called "Armstrong Farms". If anyone has better detailed info on this old farm and the history behind it, please add more comments here!

Closer view of the Blackland elevator and B & O Railroad tracks. The view is looking toward the southwest.

Farmstead in lower right of picture was owned by Pistorius. Looking Northwest, in the distance, toward the upper left hand side of the picture, is the Blackland elevator.

Farmstead of Norman Jordan and his wife Eleanor Jordan. They lived here beginning in 1948. This farmhouse is on the southwest corner of the intersection of Zion Chapel Road and S. Lincoln Memorial Parkway.
