I believe this is 7779 W 850 N Rd, Gaston. The race track to the left is at the Gaston Loins Club Fairgrounds.

My 4th great grandfather, Richard Perkinhon Clarkson, built this home, at least the front portion, in about 1818. The bricks were fired in a kiln on site. When I last saw it in about 2008 or so, charred wood in the mortar still rubbed off black on your fingers. I was devastated to find it had been demolished.

We had cattle, maybe a max of a dozen head. behind the barn and off the right side of the photo.. To the left of the photo, we had a garden, a couple hundred tomato plants, green beans and corn just for our own canning. On the east side of the road, we had alfalfa early on. Later it was just overgrown before it was partitioned and sold off. We never lived there. We rented the farmhouse out to several different people over the years. Later it just set empty. My dad put plans in motion to build a house on the south end of the property, but it never came to fruition. Everything in the photo is gone now.
