J&L Oil in the center. About seven years after this picture, I can remember it taking an hour or more to get gas there during the 1980 oil embargo.

It is. I believe at that time it was still Liberty Asphalt. Owned by Ed Frederichs.

The two buildings at left center was the location of A.W. Seekatz Builders. The Hainesville Police Dept. occupied the second floor, and our offices on the first floor. The brand new building to the rear, was our newly completed assembly building for our component home division. Comtec Components.

I believe that the farm at this time was still Grayslake Gelatin Farms. J&L Oil at the lower right.

The billboard at the lower left is for A.W. Seekatz Builders, in their front lot. I used to cut that grass with a push mower in the late 60's. My wages were $1.25 an hour.

The Old Hickory tavern is still on the NW corner in 1973. Now it's a BP gas.
