Valley Road off of Route 115 in Effort. This is the road that leads back to St. John's Lutheran Church and Effort United Methodist Church.

This was my Aunt Eleanor & Uncle Herb's home (route 115 in Effort). Eleanor (Moyer) was my dad's (Larry Moyer) sister. She married Herbert Gower. My uncle Herb started the development that is Robin Hood Lakes in Jonas. He also had Gower Well Drilling, which was then run by his one son Curt Gower (my cousin).

I'm not positive, because it's been many years since I've been there, but it looks like that might be the clubhouse at Sierra View development.

Effort General Store on Route 115. The building all the way on the left in this photo has been there as long as I can remember. I believe it was a hotel a long time ago. Today it is a coffee grinder business.

I can't be certain, but this looks like part of a horse farm on Haney Road in Sciota.

This was the Pocono View Inn, which sat atop the hill on the right-hand side if you were coming down route 209 from Brodheadsville to Sciota. There was a nice banquet room and a bar (late 1980s; early '90s), and the rooms I believe eventually became apartments. Sadly, a major fire burned the entire place to the ground in 2015.

This was a favorite place of mine when I was 15-16 years old. My boyfriend would pick me up for a date, and we'd go there for pizza and play what I remember as one of the only "Space Invader" games in the area (that was somewhere around 1979/1980).

I just read this comment about Altemose's being torn down. That makes me so sad. I have fond memories of making special trips from Long Pond to Brodheadsville with my Grammy when I was a little girl. I remember this being a hardware store.
