The Knox County Infirmary ran from 1877 until 1953, operated as the Mount Vernon Bible College from 1957 until 1988, and last operated as the House of Nightmares from 1997 until 2006, when the building had a partial collapse. The building caught on fire in June of 2015, and the ruins were demolished in February 2016.
