This is the site of the former Kell School, a one-room schoolhouse at what is now 17425 Flat Branch Rd (Carlyle, IL). Oddly, the school was not located on Kell Road to the north (the Mound School was on that road), so how the Kell name was given is not clear. Like most Clinton County country schools, Kell was consolidated in the 1940s and by the 1950s the building had been sold and turned into a residence.
