This is the Oakland, IL high school. The picture was taken in the late summer perhaps the 1st or 2nd week of school as tents are set up for the annual cornbread and bean festival. The school was torn down and a new addition to the grade school housed the k-12 grades. The new gym, on the left of the school is still there and even after 63 years it is still called the new gym.
