The TC Gun Shop
'The Village Store' 1948-1952
Located on Hwy 83 just north of Engle Dr at the entrance to Venetian Village, Lake Villa township.
(A Super Walmart is now located across the street)
Ed & Marian Kostelny were the original owners and had the structure built in 1947 by developer Morton Engle. The store was downstairs & the family lived upstairs with their children Kathy & Randy. The concept of the store was to service the new community of Venetian Village. It was sold in 1952 and the new proprietors continued its use as a store into the 1960's. Later uses were a Gun Shop; Dog Grooming Service; and an Attorney's office.
Wellens Shell Gas station was later built to the south on the corner which in later years became the
"Vette Shop'.
