Koenamans meat store
Koenemann Sausage Co. located on Rte. 120 (now Volo Village Rd.) just east of Rte. 12., known for that old fashioned flavor with 35 varieties of true German style sausages. Today, the business is closed. They had a newer building located to the right of the original location (shown above). Willi Koenemann (1907-1994) was born in Germany and learned how to make sausage. In 1933 he started his own butcher shop in Chicago, coming to Volo to butcher hogs on a farm there. In 1940, he and his wife, Elsbeth, purchased land in Volo and moved the business to this location. Their son, William took over the business.
