24250 W. Townline Rd., looking NW. House was built in 1939, but fell into disrepair over the years. Home and land were sold in 2013 and now a nicer, larger house occupies the site. Located midway between Fairfield Rd. and Bacon Rd., on the north side of the street.
According to the 1907 Avon Township plat map, this property located on W. Townline Rd. was part of the John Lenzen farmland. At this above location was the Fort Hill School that was the second school built. The original hewn log school was built in 1841 at the location on the corner of Rte. 120 (W. Belvidere Rd.) and Fairfield Rd. (formerly Fort Hill Rd.). The log school was replaced with a wood and brick building built by Reuben Botsford about 1850 at the same location and eventually was moved south to the above location on Townline Rd.
