This was my grandparents farm, located on the corner of IL Rt 60 and Wilson rd. Grayslake, IL. My grandfather was a black angus cattle farmer.
The driveway footprint and gate on the Rt. 60 the end of it are all that remain. The land now belongs to The Chapel church.
According to the 1907 Fremont Township plat map, this farm property was owned by Frederick Converse (1866-1945) on both sides of Rte. 60. which is located in the bottom right hand corner of the photo and Wilson Rd. in the top right. His father was Washington L. Converse (1824-1895) who owned the property in 1861. Washington was born in Orange County, VT and was left an orphan. At the age of 19 he came to Illinois but in 1854 he purchased 220 acres in Fremont Township. Washington married Jane (Hazen) Converse (1837-1913).
