Blatz beer sign on the border between IL & WI on Rt 41 & Rt 173.

Root beer, cigarettes and oleo hamburgers.

This was called Gorski's tower restaurant for a while. I was told the tower was blown over in a storm in the mid 70's. Note the large gas pump out front next to the semi. A worker would stand inside and then come out and pump your gas. I am looking for any more photos of that. It was owned by Bill Dooper also.

I worked there and also worked at the gas station. The little sales stands to the left we used that to sell oleo on weekends. The land where the trees to the right became The Homestead Tavern. Lee Stone ran it. To the far left was Art Sundins Shell gas station. To the far right was the Tex-Gas gas station ran by Kile Woolman later to become Bill Dooper's. Dooper also ran the big pump station in front of Gorski's. Dooper also later owned Fosslands restaurant across the street. Think the sign blew down in 1967.

Area of 43400 Rte 41, Wadsworth, looking to the SW. This is just south of Stateline Rd.
The buildings were slowly razed throughout the 1980's and 90's.
