Corner of 120 and Lake Street in Grayslake. Lakeview School at the bottom left, with Rockenbach Chevrolet across the street.

The Lakeview School at bottom left of photo is now Westlake Christian Academy.

The school building is located at 275 S. Lake St. in the Village of Grayslake in Avon Township. This property was the original location of the Grayslake Grade School log building built in the 1850s. In the 1860s a one-room school building replaced the log building. The one-room school was moved to Hawyley Street in 1895 and is part of the Grayslake Municipal Historical Museum. It was replace by dark brick building (in photo). Since then there were additions to the building and eventually was named Woodview School. In 1951, the school was named Lakeview School and was closed in 2002. The Westlake Christian Academy in 2002 leased the building for 3 years before purchasing the property.

The gas station (bottom of photo) is now a park. A portion of the St. Gilbert School is seen in upper left hand corner of photo. The property located on the southeast corner of the intersection is now Nordic Properties at 1 E. Belvidere Rd.
