Looking west - This is route 45 intersection with Gages Lake Rd. Gages Lake rd looks like driveway in lower right corner. Tiny bar that was right on corner of Gages Lake and 45 partially hidden by trees. Motel and gas station both still there and a lot more fixed up. Lower left is Gages Lake picnic grounds. Top half open land is part of College of Lake County.

The Country Motel

This was originally part of the Gage farm, then the Broadwayway Farm and then Knodells Farm. Art Knodell subdivided it but no other houses were ever built. A later owner sold one parcel to the Lake County Housing Authority. On one of these corners was Art Knodell's sandwich shop and gas station prior to the1960s. It was known as Knodell's corners. The state took large chunks off both sides of the road by condemnation to widen route 45 2010. Businesses were lost on the South east corner and access roads were added to the remaining businesses.
