This is where I grew up.
Yes, this was my home until about 1961. Three miles east on hwy (136?) out of Heyworth, IL, and a mile and a half south on a gravel road. The buildings are gone now along with the trees. It was my home from birth until I moved out on my own.
Nancy and Linda, in what years did you each live here? What type of farm was this?
I lived there in the 60's and 70's. It was predominately a corn and soybean farm, but we also had cattle and a few chickens.
I lived there from birth till 1969. I graduated high school in early 69 and left to attend school in Louisville, KY in the fall.
The location has been pinned on the map, does this look correct?
I moved the pin to the correct location - only the sheet metal shed remains of the structures in the photo. Grain bins and an LP tank have since been erected. I guess it's why you can never go home; home is gone.
I was born in 1941 and lived there until I was 18 in 1959. It was still my legal residence until about 1961. My parents, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters lived there longer. I was the oldest child, and left home first.
