My parents, Norman and Cherie Tracy, purchased this land from the Swearingen family and built the house and lake in 1980-81. They lived there until 2006. We lived in the "Swearingen" house (north of the big white barn) on that same property up near the road. This was a wonderful place with lots of happy memories of swimming, fishing, family picnics and weiner roasts, and boating. I remember before the lake was there, it was grassland with a small creek running through it -- Maid's Run. When excavating the land building the dam, the operator (Stan McCreary) said he hit something that appeared to be a wooden box of bright gold dust. By the time he saw it, it was bulldozed over. Cool story. :)
