State Highway Patrol
My parents built a home on Orchard Lane, about 1.7 miles on East from the District #9 State Police Headquarters building, pictured here. Before the Interstate system and I-55, we got onto the Rt 66 highway by going behind (north of this building) and merged onto the highway to head to Springfield. With the advance of the Interstate, this exit onto Rt 66 was closed off and West bound traffic heading to the Interstate now goes around the south side of the State Police.
