This looks like Auto Home and Discount.....better known as The Green Store, on hwy 50 in O'Fallon, IL. It's no longer there. I sure do miss this store.

Built in 1954 by Tom and Helen Moffit. I walked in and got a job on my 18th Birthday in 1972 and worked there for 9 years. Sold to Dallas Neibrugge in 1974. He was Vice President at a major chain and in charge of their auto department. He retired and spent quite a lot of money refurbing the store. I was the Auto Parts Manager by this time. This was THE PLACE to go to for anything you needed for your home! From plumbing to electrical supplies...to yarn and paint...tools to over the counter medicine. This place sold more Candy, and automotive parts..oil...filters and many other things than any retailer in the St. Louis area! Sadly, about 1977 Dallas died of a heart attack. Don and Jackie Rideout ....and they were there before me...took over. After I went to a different job, Henry Bikirk, who worked there and his wife...Secretary and cashier...ran it for a few more years. I still know one of the cashiers but have lost contact with the others. I learned a lot by working there and to be sure this is the short version! As the economy expanded the property became more valuable than the business....The area is BOOMING these days and after it was torn down, about '84??, several name brand businesses have occupied the property.

We furnished private label Auto & Home batteries to C & M Dist (that was their corporate name) for many years. I have fond memories of making deliveries to their location often. The were a good customer of Bell City Battery in Belleville
