This was one of many former one room schoolhouses repurposed as a residence. The Flansburg School operated here through the 1958-59 school year. At that time, the school housed approximately 25 first, second and third graders. By April 1959, the decision had been made to close the school and voters were asked to approve the sale of the building.
The school was sold at auction on July 17, 1959 to Philip Welty of Freeport.
