That’s the ranch of James “Brownie” and Madeline “Mickie” Brown. They are my grandparents. I grew up there. At the time of the photo, it was called Shoestring Outfit Arabians. Named for the Arabian horses they bred, raised, and trained for the Marshall County Sheriffs Posse. My grandfather was a member for 47 years. The pool is gone now. So is the little chicken coop that sits to the northeast of the house between the house and barn. The last of the horses were sold off about 7 years ago due to my grandfather being in his 70s at the time and it getting harder to tend to them during the winter. Madeline Brown passed away on June 19, 2003. James is still alive and remains the owner and resident of the property.
