Orrin and Lillian James - Kay, Jerry, and Merwin

Hi Merwin,
Do you know if the property looks similar 50 years later? What kind of cow did your family raise?

Alexis, the barn has stayed the same, as well as what we called the corn crib. The building all the way in the right was torn down to make room for a swine farrowing/pig nursery building. A hog finishing building was also built. Unfortunately, the swine buildings were left to fall as well as the beautiful silo. The grain bins have also been removed. The house yard was cut to add more livestock lot. We raised Herefords, mostly Hampshire hogs (we had some Durocs towards the end) and we had a few head of sheep. We grew corn, oats, beans, and alfalfa hay. 300 acres and it was a beautiful farm in it's day.
