This is the Vernon Elementary School located on 130th Street, Renwick, Iowa. A lot of memories were made there.

I attended that school at that time. Thanks for allowing me to see it.

Once on its own, Vernon became consolidated with Renwick and Hardy (Iowa) and was known as the Boone Valley school system and eventually was split between the Goldfield and Humboldt school systems. I'm not sure the buildings exist today. My mother attended this school (30's)as did my siblings and I (50's). This picture reminds me of the post war side by side low level B52 flights that would pass over us at a few hundred feet during recess.

My siblings all graduated from Vernon. I attended until 1956 when it became a part of the Boone Valley Community School, graduated from BV in 1958. My Family bought the school and grounds when Bv finally closed the doors in 1978. It then became the Vernon Athletic Club/Sports camp. A tornado hit the grounds in 1979 and the business never fully recovered. Closed the doors in 1983. Note the building in the upper portion of photo which was then part on the Herman Krause farm. The building was originally located about 50 yards south of school and was used as a barn for horses in the day and also a gym for basketball. Frank Siemens bought the property with intention to move BV Implement there. The main building was taken down but the gym remains standing alone today. They instead bought BV buildings/ground in Renwick when it closed in 1988.

Hello, Ron! The only person younger than myself in class of 1958. I graduated in same yr @ Humboldt. I'm in Mankato, Mn.
