In the upper right corner of this print is the KCRG-TV9 transmitter and tower. This site was not utilized for transmission use for several years until their primary 2000 ft tower located in Walker, IA collapsed in 1974. This Hiawatha site was reactivated for several months while the Walker site was being rebuilt. After the construction concluded, transmission origination from here ended, however this site is still utilized for local weather radar monitoring, and other purposes. Installation of primary dishes for satellite reception of network programming started in the early 1980s here. Since that time period, the dishes have been removed and major local residential encroachment has occurred.
