My family lived here at the time this photograph was taken near St. Charles, Iowa. It has changed so much since then, it hardly resembles the same place. The last time I drove by it the barn, grain bins, and most of the smaller out buildings were gone because it is no longer a working farm. The house has been enlarged and is now a large bright blue box shape. The small tree that I planted, shown here located directly behind the house and in front of the large shop door is now a beautiful, huge shade tree. Several of the large shade trees in the front yard have evidently died and been removed. There is also no longer a working railroad line south of the house. The Chicago Northwestern track was taken out not long after this photo and this became part of a walking trail. My family lived here for over 20 years. It was a wonderful home and working farm to grow up on with 240 acres of beautiful hills, timber, a large fishing pond, fields and wonderful memories.

This home was owned by the Gertrude Maxwell family at some point. When the Nelson family purchased this home & began their remodel, they found Maxwell family photos in the wall of the upstairs closet. We were able to identify & return these wonderful treasures to the family members.

Brenda, Old Maxwell family history says the boys (told by Steve's dad - Richard, Larry & Lonnie) were up on the hill cutting wood and the truck came out of gear and ran down the hill right through the back of the Old Red Barn.
