This is the J.D. Bryson homestead, constructed circa 1890. The log building on the right was the civil-war era Black Oak School, purchased by J.D.Γ’Βs son (and former school teacher at Black Oak) A.H. Bryson, and moved to this location in 1912 when a more modern frame 2-room building replaced the log one. In 2017 the log school and the cellar and smokehouse still stand. The house was in rough shape by 2003, and was torn down after being severely damaged by falling trees in the ice storm that hit Greenup Couny that year.
