originallyCleveland farm owned by Floyd Tower now owned by Cary and Terri hill.

Currior rd, Houlton Maine..the Hill farm..

I used to work there when it was called Borderview farms. It was a farm owned by Harold Birmingham
and at one time had 94 standardbred horses of all ages, about 30 milking shorthorn cattle and employed4 men and more summer help. I was there in the late 50's, my father and uncle in the early to late 50's.
Harold Was from Brighton, New Brunswick, Canada
I loved the life there, after a hitch in the USAF.

Lived my first 18 years in this very house!
Will always be home to me......Northwind Farm!!

I would love to know the owners names and the dates of owner transfers on this place. How did the name Cleveland get attached to the farm.? I suspect Harold Birmingham purchased the place in the early 40's. In the 1940 census He was listed as residing in residence of Walter (age 49) & Helen Graham (age 42), North Road RFD#3, He was a member
of the Standard bred Horses Association ( American Harness Horse Association) and an active owner, Racer and breeder of horses. I am surprised He and the farm never received much recognition as it was a large operation for Maine.

My father and Uncle were employees of Harold B. Birmingham when I was school age, then I followed them after 4 year Military hitch. The farm was called Border view farms and was an active Breeding, Training, and racing facility, likely the largest in Maine at the time. I actually stayed there, room and board , I loved the work and especially the horses. He also had about 35 milking shorthorn cattle.
