Ginn's pavilion on the Ginn Road in Fort Fairfield. Gone now. Had beautiful hardwood floors and a crystal ball. Frank Ginn made a lot of money with this.

I remember the dance hall well, my grandfather Frank Ginn owned it. There used to be fantastic crowds who attended. Entertainment was the Big Band orchestra's, local bands as well as bands as far away as Philadelphia. At times my grandfather would store oats on the hardwood floor, the oils from the oats would seep into the floor providing a beautiful sheen. My mother and father were married there. Besides dances it also host boxing matches and Aroostook beauty pageants.

The Dance hall came under the ownership of Greenridge Farms (Joseph P, and Michael Findlen) I reopened the Dance hall in 1976 and had several local bands play there.
It was a sensational hit with hundreds attending until the cops shut it down for unsafe and unsanitary conditions (three hole outhouse) in ladies and two hole in the mens. The said the floor would not hold that many people.

Before tearing it down I took up the floor. Jerry Coty's camp on Big Machias Pond is adorned in that vintage hardwood flooring. Carrying on Frank Ginns legacy.

I would have loved to have had some of that flooring. Would have made a great keepsake.

Hi Bob! Thanks for sharing your memories with us. It sounds like Aroostook County was quite the place back then! We'd love to hear more about your dad's experiences in the band and your memories of growing up in the area. Do you remember any specific landmarks or changes in the community since 1965? Looking forward to hearing more!
