This was the home built by my maternal grandparents (Edwin and Mildred Thomas) on Colby Siding Road in Woodland, about three farms down on the left from the intersection with Route 161. Sometime shortly before they were married, Gramper bought the 160-acre farm for $1 "and other considerations," which weren't explicitly spelled out but probably included use of a potato field and other tradeoffs. They originally lived in a house farther down the road but still on the property and I think the hired hands lived there during the harvest. Gramper planted potatoes, had milk cows, raised chickens and pigs, and tended a hay field (upper right) for the cows' feed. Grammy's family garden is on the left. My brothers and I spent several weeks there each summer for a number of years in the '60s (while our parents went to Cape Cod, we found out later!). They also owned a gas station/garage/store on 161, and we "helped" Grammy at the store. We loved it all.
