This is on the Nutting Road in Perham. My parents, Ken and Verdella Fox, built the house in the foreground around 1960. It was a duplex, and my grandmother Lottie Nutting Fox lived in one end, while our family (my parents and my brothers Larry and Curt and myself) lived in the other. The barn was where my Uncle Henry Nutting housed his baby chicks until it was time for them to begin producing eggs for sale. The large older home next to the barn was where my grandfather Stanley Fox grew up. He and my grandmother Lottie met when she came up from Worchester, Mass to work for the Fox family. When I was a child Canadian potato pickers that worked for Basil Fox's potato harvest were housed there. There was an orchard that we spent many hours in right behind the old house.

The apple orchard my sister mentioned had a transparent tree in it. They made the best green apples of all. There were also some regional varieties developed by local folks. I don't remember their names. Sadly, I believe all of the original structures are now gone. The old barns were beautiful-the one pictured was held together at several point by wooden pegs. The house had a LOT of bedrooms, at least 10 if I recall. Ernie Rasmussen and I would put on double layers of clothing and sunglasses, then 'hunt' each other through that old house with Red Ryder BB guns. No torso shots allowed, legs only. Man they stung. When Ross Fox, my great grandfather bought the farm, in the late 1800's I believe, there were more buildings than shown in this photo. Great memories.

Wow - this is our home now. We bought the house in 1990 and have done numerous upgrades. It is no longer a duplex.

My family purchased Eggs from the Nuttings, and Wood from the Saw mill across the Street. My grandmother Lorena Blackstone on the cross road just North of the Nuttings
