Is this the old starch factory on the left???
yes. Jack and Ada Higgins lived in the house with the car in front during the 50's
YES, Jack Higgins lived there.
The buildings on the left were the ashland starch factoryCo. They are not
now. The building in the upper right hand corner was the water pumping
station for Ashland's water needs, from the Big Machias Rtver.
Yes, and I have 8mm film of the starch factory fire.
Also, I have trucked culled potatoes to the starch factory and waited my turn to unload many a time. I wasn't very hefty, so rolling the barrels up the plank (when necessary) wasn't easy.
We lived in this house for a long time untill it burned down just before Christmas. We loved every thing about it and the location couldn't be beat.
