Bumps Farm , aka Quimby Farm . China , Maine

I spent a lot of time at this farm with some really great friends.Lovef this farm. The Quimby's were the greatest.Loved Donald and Pat.

I was born in this farmhouse, as was my sister. My brother came a little later in a hospital. It was my father's home place--he also was probably born there.

My sister and I were born in this farmhouse! My brother came later in a hospital. This was also my Father's home place and he was probably born there as well. The farmhouse was a duplex and my Aunt, Uncle and their family lived in the other part of the house. I absolutely loved growing up there--am so glad to have learned the rewards of hard work and dedication it took to make a farm a success! Sadly, the farm was sold due to unfortunate circumstances and later was lost (only the main house) in a fire. It is still a working farm, but looks so different now----makes me sad when I drive by!!! So many wonderful memories for my siblings and me.

.

My grandparents owned and operated this farm for many years. My mother Marie (Bumps) James was born on this farm.

I DIDN'T REALIZE THAT MARIE WAS BORN THERE. I ALWAYS THAT THE BUMPS FARM WAS A BEAUTIFUL FARM
HOUSE. MY GRANDPARENTS ROBERT & SARAH FLETCHER ;IVED IN THE FARM NEXT DOOR AROUNS THE CURVE
AND WHEN ROGER AND I GOT MARRIED WE LIVED THERE, SO WE USED TO DRIVE BY THE FARM EVERYDAY. I
REMEMBER MY DAD BUYING MILK FROM THE BUMPS FAMILY. MANY HAPPY MEMORIES WERE AT THAT FARM BY A
LOT OF PEOPLE.

A lot of great memories I had here.

That's Butch Stevens farm now, isn't it? I worked there for a couple of years if it is.

yes, I was born there and lived there for 18 years. My father and his brother worked the farm until 1970. The duplex farmhouse burned after the farm was sold.

257 Pleasant View Ridge Road, China, ME. The Bumps/Quimby Farm, as others stated. The only things still standing from this photo are the dairy barn buildings, which in their most basic form are still very similar to this picture. As Patsy stated above, the home near the roadside burned sometime between the 1970s and 1990s (some one else may be able to confirm the year), and a new home built in the corn field near the bottom right corner. All connecting ells and the barn building nearest to the home are now gone, as are the grain silos and the small outbuilding at the far rear of the property. There are now several additions and other outbuildings around the property, most notable a metal half-circle building approximately where the barn nearest the house was, and a gable-roof garage at the end of the dairy barn nearest the photographer.
