This is my house currently, bought in 2015. 3779 SE 84th Ave, Claremont, MN 55924. Was built by Otto Stark in 1921 and remained in the Stark family until 1988. Then sold to Dale Levy family. A school house is across the street that was burned about 1995. Kitty corner to the southwest was a creamery. This intersection was and is still known as "Stark's Corner".
I went to that school house from 1951-1956. It was one room, with one teacher and grades 1-8. There was an outhouse with boys and girls sides. My classmate, and first girlfriend, was Barbara Stark, she lived across the road from us. We lived West on 38th about a mile, last house on the South side. She was across the road towards Stark's Corner. We were the only two students in our grade level. We walked to and from school unless a farmer on his way to the creamery gave us a lift. My grandparents and lots of kin are buried in St Johns Lutheran cemetery. There were several Grunz families in the area. My father Alvin and mother Alsie Grunz moved to Owatonna in 1957.
Hello Ralph,
It is always amazing to me to see how much history one little school building can contain. Thank you for the information
