Trinity Lutheran Church. Behind it is the United Methodist Church, Jeromesville.

i own the house between the 2 churches i bought it 2 years ago. notable changes are the garage door does not have windows now on left port. may be a newer solid wood door currently but still old. the windows on the left and right of that garage door are gone and covered in shake siding. inside garage where those windows are, are now custom shelves. also notice the giant tree to the right of the garage door is now gone and a extra car port was added. which means the car port was added after 1971. the big tree to the far right i had removed when i moved in, the majority of it was dead branches. the fence in the picture if im correct was taken down and someone a few streets over took pieces of it for their front yard but they do not have it anymore as it has rotted they told me. the fence i have up right now that is wood that im going to paint and fix soon i believe is the fence that replaced the one in the pic.

also note the back of my house there is only what seems to be a door or window. there is now 4 windows in a row and the door is moved to the left of those 4 windows, and a small back porch was added (those blueprints are in the gis online). also to the farthest left of the back of my house in this picture it looks like windows. those are gone and replaced with a diamond window and plus a covered up pipe that leads to a outside chimney not pictured. that chimney is now covered up in the wall. it seems it was only used for a short time. not sure if it was for heat or cooking. i believe kevin wise (rip) and his son made the majority, if not all, the modifications on this house in the late 80s and 90s when they owned a wood mill. ive noticed a few other modifications with windows in other pics as well. you can barely see the side window on the main house is now boarded up, inside a wall was put over it and kitchen cabinets were hung up

Hi Tom! Thank you for sharing all those details about your property in the Ashland County photo from 1971! It's fascinating to hear about the changes you've made over the years. If you could recall any memories from growing up in Ashland County during that time, we'd love to hear them! Sometimes, it's the little details that bring the past to life. Let us know if there's anything else you'd like to share or if you have any questions for us.

thanks alexis, i just bought the home 2 years ago and had been trying to gather as much info about it as possible. it seems most of the modifications were prob done in the late 80s and early 90s. through the 2000s it mainly owned by different family members of the crosswhites.

i didnt grow up in ashland, i grew up in cleveland. i moved out this way for a more peaceful life 2 years ago and have been trying to restore this home since. it was missing a basement window, all the gutters werent working, etc. had to replace the furnaces and sump pump etc. still have alot of painting to do

the date of the place is 1890 although i think that could be off. i think the garage (carraige house) may be older then the home because the foundation is different. i also have a town plat book that says the first owner bought the land the house is on in the early 1800s. i would have to relook but i think 1809. so i think the home started off as a smaller carriage house, they added to the carriage house and then built the main house up front. alot of the custom work i think was done by the "wise" family who owned a lumber yard in town. the upstairs of the carriage house was never finished. i found old/new materials in there dated 2004 like insulation and pvc pipe that was never used. and wood framing of walls that were never finished. ive been keeping a blog and pictures the past 2 years of all the stuff i been figuring out and fixing. even little things like finding old pieces of a license plate that were cut up and used to patch holes in the garage and painted over. i am in my early 40s and alot of the previous owners from long ago before the 2000s have passed away. the garage was also used as i think a automotive shop at one point. in the attic there is a huge automotive sign with one of the previous owners last names on it. also around i think the 1950s a woman who owned the place passed away and the church next door owned the place for maybe 8 months or so. not sure why. not sure if they bought it or were gifted it or if they had plans for it then decided to sell. thats all i can think of right now.
