Midway Lake resort Route 322 at the Grand River. Orwell, Ohio 1965

This was my Great Grand Fathers Land

In the 1960's we use to go for picnics, and loved to see the horses ❤️

I was very young born in 61, and just remember the last few years it's was open

I have been to Midway Lakes a few times as a child, it was set back through the trees. In the 1960’s, grandparents owned a bar on Mayfield Rd (RT 322) right by the Grand River Bridge. It was not far from Midway Lakes. I remember as a kid, Midway Lakes was busy on the 3 day weekends and in the summer. I think in deer season people would hunt at Midway.

O do I have Such Great Memories of Midway Lake!! EVERY SUNDAY we had to go there do to the fact that My Parents belonged to the Outwaite Sportsman Gun Club that had its Club house on that Land in back of Midway Lake!! There was a Trap, and Shooting Range back there . They had Clam bakes, BBQ picnics, Wild turkey shots ,..., it was life for us on Sundays after church. Wow ! What sits on that land Now?? I would love to see it.

Hi Marcia, thank you for sharing those wonderful memories with us! It sounds like the Outwaite Sportsman Club was quite the place back then. Can you remember anything else about that time period or the area in general? -Alexis

I think I remember small cabins when you drove back to the woods. And they had some kind bar where you could drink. My grandparents owned the Mayfair Tavern on Route 322, if Midway Lakes ran out of supplies they would borrow, beer or vodka, Scotch from the Mayfair Tavern and vice versa.
