Photo 89-OCH-31

This farmhouse has been in my family for six generations. At the time of this photo, no one from the family was living here and the house was rented out. Eventually, the renters left and the house deteriorated even more. Ten years after this picture was taken, my parents remodeled the home and moved our family here from Columbus. The house went through a second remodeling after a devastating fire in 1994. Just last summer, my husband and I moved here with our family. Even though there have been many changes over the years, it's easy to recognize the basic structure of the house as well as some of the trees that are still standing.

I have many fond memories of my Aunt and Uncle restoring the home in the seventies, and then staying overnight lots of times with my cousins.

Traditionally the family Thanksgiving was here, and there were always nearly 40 of us eating, shooting hoops or guns, and playing games like Dictionary (before Balderdash came out.) The highlight was always singing and praising the Lord for His rich blessings in our lives.

We hiked the farm and swam in the pond for hours on end. I now live in CA and miss those days and my cousins tremendously. So glad that it is still in the family.
